The third site of intervention focuses on clusters of residential buildings constructed on small plots ranging from 50 to 80 square meters. This intervention strategy has two main objectives. First, it aims to create practical guidelines for residents undertaking DIY renovations, encouraging them to explore often-overlooked opportunities such as passive systems for improving climate comfort, better ventilation, and sun protection.

Bourj Hammoud is dense, but many buildings contain small courtyards, sometimes as small as 2 square meters, which are often overtaken by mismanaged water tanks and distribution systems.

Despite their size, consolidating a few of these courtyards scattered across multiple buildings could create shared, introverted havens of calm or green space—an invaluable respite in a neighborhood where noise and traffic are among the biggest challenges.
